Many experts theorize that Riall was formed not very long ago, after the shattering of the world. As continents drifted apart from each other, the outermost islands of the world converged at the same point and formed the land of Riall. Geologists and biologists have developed this theory as an explanation for the drastic changes in wildlife and climate experienced as one moves across the continent.

However, Lord Jarit, the self-appointed ruler of Riall, has been known to credit himself with the creation of the continent! He is a wealthy and eccentric man who takes pleasure in surrounding himself with interesting dinner companions and well-traveled guests. When the rest of the civilized world discovered the existence of Riall, Lord Jarit immediately saw an opportunity to attract new citizens to his domain. He got to work transforming the entire continent into a hunter's paradise and began importing all manner of hostile creatures to populate the island. His goal was to attract the bravest adventurers in the land and make them never want to return home again.
