The Barbarok horde is a savage race of ever-evolving demons, and they are currently the dominant tribe of the upper planes of the Underworld. Although their rise to power after the shattering was swift and merciless, it took centuries for their kind to reach their current strength and numbers.

The ancient Barbarok were much weaker and less prepared to stand up to the other demon hordes. Their lairs were constantly ravaged by invaders, and their kind served as food for the Cycans and other stronger beasts. However, the Barbarok found a new, untouched cavern in the Underworld, unreachable by larger species, and while they themselves were much too large to fit through the winding tunnels to colonize this new location, their young were not. A newly hatched, fledgling Barbarok is no larger than the average human's fist: the perfect size to travel to new depths and thrive, safe from the other demon hordes.

And so, for centuries, the Barbarok clan lived on, rapidly increasing in numbers. Unfortunately, Barbarok reach adulthood very rapidly, and they continue to grow larger throughout their entire lifespan. With the entire race trapped within this new cavern, unable to leave, the competition for food and survival quickly became fierce and led to cannibalism and even more horrific acts. It was only a matter of time before they began to degenerate: the Barbarok started mutating and shedding any semblance of culture or civility they might have had...

When the shattering came, the Underworld shook violently. Walls crumbled, caverns shifted, and new passageways were formed. When the debris had cleared, the Barbarok discovered that the walls separating their lair from the rest of the upper plane were destroyed, and they were now free to walk the halls of the Underworld. The other creatures were powerless to repel the invading Barbarok. They crushed entire clans and enslaved countless demons. Rumors of their brutality spread all throughout the upper plane, but the Barbarok were unstoppable. And so, their reign of terror has continued to this day, unchecked.
